A certain kind of person is required to sit on a school board. They must be passionate about public education and are determined to enhance educational opportunities in their communities. They should be willing and able to put in the time and effort necessary to be a member of an elected public board. They should also have significant business experience and leadership skills to bring to the board.

A good board member should have significant experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry or a similar field, with a background in the field of technology and innovation.
